On behalf of Selby Civic Society, the Heritage Open Days team has expressed extreme sadness regarding the death of HRH Queen Elizabeth II.
Events planned for Heritage Open Days 2022 by Selby District Council have been cancelled or postponed:
- A Stroll along Gowthorpe – The Street of Fools – a walk led by David Lewis. (was due to take place on Saturday 10 September: 2.30-4pm, Saturday 17 September: 11am-12.30)
- A Stroll along Ousegate : Selby’s Street of Transport and Trade – a walk led by David Lewis (was due to take place on Saturday 10 September: 11am-1230, Wednesday 14 September: 2.30-4pm)
- Selby’s History of Transport and Trade – a talk from David Lewis (was due to take place on Wednesday 14 September: 5-7pm)
- Explore the Rebuilding of Selby between 1793 to 1837 – a walk led by Michael Dyson (was due to take place on Sunday 18 September: 10-11.30am)
- Focus on our High Streets – when Historic England and the Heritage Action Zone came to Selby (was due to take place on Monday 12 September: 2.00-3.30pm)
St James Church will be open on Monday 12 September between 10:30 and 12:30 whether people want to come to sit quietly and prayerfully or appreciate the windows and building.
Selby Abbey are open 7 days a week, 10am to 4pm and will be running the Stained Glass event on Monday, and open evening on Wednesday.
